Description

Madaraka Express is the passenger train service on Kenya's Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), run by Kenya Railways. It links Nairobi Terminus with Mombasa Terminus and is one of the most popular ways to travel between the capital and the coast.

Three trains run in each direction every day. The Inter-County train leaves both termini at 8:00 AM and stops at Athi River, Emali, Kibwezi, Mtito Andei, Voi, Miasenyi and Mariakani, while the afternoon express at 3:00 PM and the night train at 10:00 PM stop only at Voi. Between Nairobi Terminus and Suswa in Narok County, a weekend leisure train stops at Ongata Rongai, Ngong and Maai Mahiu, and a weekday commuter service connects Ngong and Rongai with the city.

A Link train connects Nairobi Central station with Nairobi Terminus to match departures. Tickets are booked online through Kenya Railways. Check fares and conditions on the Madaraka Express page.
