Description

Elewana Sand River Masai Mara is a permanent tented camp on the banks of the Sand River, inside the Masai Mara National Reserve close to the Tanzanian border. It takes its name from the river and sits on a secluded, picturesque site in the south of the reserve.

The camp recreates the style of the exclusive safari camps of the late 1920s, with period fixtures and furnishings that recall classic Hollywood African adventures. There are 16 tents, including one family tent, divided into two adjoining camps, each with its own dining and lounge areas for extra privacy.

The reserve is known for its big cats, including lion, leopard and cheetah, and game viewing is good throughout the year, with the wildebeest migration adding drama from about July to October.

The camp is part of the Elewana Collection. Rates and bookings are on the Elewana Sand River Masai Mara page.
