Description
Elsamere Lodge is an intimate lakeside lodge on the shores of Lake Naivasha, run by the Elsa Conservation Trust. Elsamere was the former home of Joy Adamson, author of Born Free, and stays at the lodge help support the trust's conservation and environmental education work.
The lodge has just 20 double rooms, all en-suite with private verandahs facing the lake. Elsamere was not designed as a resort, and it keeps a calm, homely atmosphere among lawns and fever trees where colobus monkeys and many birds can be seen. The staff know the local wildlife and look after guests closely.
The restaurant is open to residents and day visitors, and the lodge is known for its afternoon teas on the lawn. Rates are published for high and low seasons on full-board and other bases, and booking directly by phone or online gives the best rates and flexible cancellations.
Hell's Gate, Crescent Island and boat trips are close by. Room rates and bookings are on the Elsamere Lodge page.
