We are seeking a Chef to join our restaurant team. The Chef will be responsible for developing menus and preparing high-quality meals to ensure an exceptional dining experience for customers. They will report directly to the head chef and will be held accountable for maintaining quality and safety standards.
One of the primary responsibilities of the Chef is to ensure that all food prepared and served meets high standards of quality and service, including special requests from customers. They will also be responsible for addressing customer complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner. The Chef will maintain adequate supplies of stock and equipment and ensure preventative maintenance is performed on kitchen machines. They will prepare the kitchen duty roster and ensure all duties are covered effectively.
The Chef will inspect food supplies to ensure the highest quality and prepare cost-effective menus while ensuring timely provision of meals. They will train and induct new staff and regularly conduct training sessions to ensure that all staff adheres to hygiene standards. Additionally, the Chef will participate in performance appraisals and identify areas for personal and professional growth.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a culinary diploma or equivalent, along with three years' experience in hot kitchen and pastry in a busy restaurant. They should have a strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards and the ability to prepare cost-effective menus while maintaining high standards of quality. Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must, along with the ability to handle high-pressure situations and work in a fast-paced environment. The Chef should also have strong organizational and time-management skills to ensure timely provision of meals and efficient kitchen operations. They should be flexible to work long hours, including weekends and holidays and have knowledge of kitchen machines and equipment with the ability to perform preventative maintenance.
