This job requires the candidate to work closely with a team of healthcare professionals, including consultants, pharmacists, lab technologists, nurses, community oral health officers, nutritionists, and others. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that quality health services are provided to patients.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include receiving and clerking patients, initiating and monitoring treatment, conducting medical procedures after getting consent from patients or their attendants, checking and authorizing all diagnostic requisition slips, and assessing patients as required. The candidate should be able to write detailed reports in the case notes, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and communicate effectively with patients and clients. The candidate should also maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality and ethics and abide by the Kenyan Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board regulations.
In addition, the candidate should ensure compliance with legal requirements and provide input in various internal committee meetings on matters relating to clinical services, such as quality assurance, infection control, and MAC. The candidate should also participate in developing and monitoring the implementation of policies and procedures.
To qualify for this position, the candidate should have a diploma in medicine from a recognized university. The candidate should be able to work with minimum supervision and have at least 2 years of experience. The candidate should also be computer literate and experienced in using an HMIS for clerking and managing patients.
