Job Description/Requirements: Commercial Manager (Herbs and Vegetables) – Nairobi, Kenya
Our client, operating in the Horticulture Sector, is seeking to hire a Commercial Manager who possesses expertise in exporting herbs and vegetables to European markets (preferably with supermarket experience) and herbs, vegetables, and fruits to the Middle East. The ideal candidate must have previous experience in the Horticulture Sector.
• Ensure the business meets and exceeds the service expectations of key customers by having a thorough understanding of their requirements.
• Foster and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with key clients to drive commercial success.
• Attain sales, volume, and margin targets within designated customer accounts.
• Provide accurate weekly sales forecasts to the business.
• Supply the business with precise account information for long-term forecasting and planning.
• Contribute innovatively and technically to promote and expand the product range among existing customers.
• Explore and establish new markets.
• Continuously assess the supply chain to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance product quality and freshness.
• Collaborate with internal departments (supply chain, procurement, technical, operations) to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
• Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to address sourcing and availability challenges.
• Communicate technical issues with the customer commercial team as necessary.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the market sector, including consumer trends, competitor activity, and product lines.
• Identify and capitalize on opportunities for profitable business growth within key accounts.
• Ensure compliance with administrative and financial systems and controls.
• Provide regular summaries of sales, volumes, margins, and prices as needed.
• Take responsibility for long-term strategic growth and profitability by attracting new customers.
• Strategically plan the product inventory to meet customer requirements and monitor stock usage, profitability, and loss.
• Identify and seize opportunities for profitable business growth within key accounts while adhering to administrative and financial systems and controls.
• Cultivate relationships with multiple customer bases and stakeholders within the produce industry.
• Relevant Bachelor's degree.
• Extensive experience in sourcing procurement and commercial sales in Europe and the Middle East.
• Minimum 5 years of previous experience in the produce industry with a proven track record in commercial expertise.
• Customer-centric mindset.
• Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively manage a commercial team and drive future business growth.
• Proficiency in working with an ERP system.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong decision-making abilities.

Monthly Gross Salary: Ksh 300,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
