The AKU Department of Surgery is in search of a Consultant Ophthalmologist who can lead the development of a highly skilled and proficient team in providing high-quality Ophthalmology services to patients and their families. Additionally, the role involves teaching and conducting research in specific areas of professional interest and expertise.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
Implementing and overseeing educational programs to support the educational growth of residents. Engaging in scholarly activities, including educational and clinical research, and supervising residents' research as necessary. Establishing clinical services aligned with specific areas of interest and specialization. Building and managing a clinical team that includes residents/interns with assigned responsibilities. Delivering predetermined clinical services, both in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Hold a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology or its equivalent. Possess specialist recognition from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. Have at least 3 years of clinical experience at a reputable institution, demonstrating an interest in academic and research activities. Having a fellowship certificate would be an additional advantage. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
