The job description entails the responsibility of managing the cash register and ensuring that proper procedures are followed during your shifts. As the cashier, you will be responsible for collecting payments from customers, issuing receipts, refunds, and change when necessary. You will also be accountable for preparing and reporting sales and any other incidents that occur during your shifts. Additionally, you will be responsible for taking stock of inventory and handing over operations to the next shift leader.
Part of your duties as a cashier will be to handle customer complaints, provide information and guidance, and maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workstation. You will be expected to familiarize yourself with the products and services offered, arrange the workstation in an appealing manner, and provide customers with relevant information regarding incentives and promotions.
The ideal candidate should hold a diploma or degree in Statistics or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in data entry and cashiering. Experience working in the finance department or with the airline, logistics packaging, moving, and packaging industries will be an added advantage. The candidate should also possess excellent communication skills, good data entry and mathematics skills, and the ability to work well in a team.
