Kenya Muslim Women Alliance(KEMWA) is a community based organization officially launch 2010 as a nongovernmental organization addressing the issues a facing Muslim, and non Muslim women at the Coast and advocating for their rights.
Kenya Muslim Women Alliance Trust is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-political, and non-profit making institution. The organization was officially launched in 2010 addressing the issues facing Muslim, and non Muslim women at the Coast and advocating for their rights. . KEMWA is an umbrella body bringing together all regional and national Muslim women organizations. During its launching in 2010 it brought together all national Muslim leaders for a three day workshop in Mombasa to deliberate on the current issues facing Muslim women, the Kadhi’s Court and the drug menace affecting the Muslim youth.
KEMWA has throughout worked to empower women to participate in decision making process and fighting gender based violence.
It also provides legal aid at the local level and empowering the girl child through educational support and network with other organizations that deal with rehabilitation of drug addicts.
Our main objective is to mobilize individuals, institutions and organizations for effective advocacy to achieve gender parity and reforms gender policy in Kenya.
Cognizant of the need to empower women and the marginalized community to enable them realized their social, economic and political rights.
