This is a job description for the position of Loan Officer in a company that empowers micro and small businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa. The job requires the Loan Officer to work 8:30am to 5:30pm on weekdays and 9:00am to 2:00pm on Saturdays, and beyond when required. The job location is Ngong, Kiambu County (Waiyaki Way and Its Environs) and Nairobi (Dagoretti South).
The Loan Officer reports to the Branch Team Leader and is responsible for actively seeking out new sales opportunities through door-to-door marketing and cold calling, establishing new business through lead generation (outreach and promotion) and closing sales, loan processing/reviewing loan requests, loan recovery, assessing the client's financial status, evaluating credit worthiness and risks, setting up payment plans with customers, following up with customers about loan renewals, monitoring the progress of existing loans, and performing other tasks and duties as assigned by the company.
The job requires the Loan Officer to have a diploma in a business-related course, proven experience as a sales Executive or relevant role as a loan officer, experience with MS Office, good understanding of credit, basic knowledge of staff relations, and organizational skills.
The Loan Officer should have the ability to multitask and prioritize, strong communication skills, engaging and presentation skills, strong conflict management skills, strong sense of ethics, and should be a team player. The Loan Officer will have relationships with branch staff and operations managers. The performance review period for the position is an initial 6-month probation.
