Job Description/Requirements: Plant Mechanic (Horticulture) – Kibwezi, Kenya
Our client, a well-established plantation with operations in Kenya and Tanzania, is currently seeking to hire a Plant Mechanic for their Technical department. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform mechanical repairs, routine servicing, and cleaning of plant machinery. The Plant Mechanic will also be responsible for maintaining the workshop tools and equipment, as well as ensuring a clean working area. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of experience working as a Plant Mechanic.
Key Requirements:
• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and servicing of plant machinery.
• Ensure the functionality of plant machinery by conducting inspections, diagnosing and repairing engine failures, addressing mechanical and electrical malfunctions, and replacing parts and components.
• Conduct thorough inspections and evaluations of problematic machinery or parts to identify issues.
• Order and replace parts and components, as well as repair any body damage as needed.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance on working machinery to ensure proper upkeep.
• Maintain detailed records of each machine, including maintenance, inspection, and repair services performed.
• Adhere to Safety and Health regulations and procedures, including proper lifting techniques.
Qualifications:
• Diploma holder or Trade Test Certificate Grade 1 or Technician Craft 3.
• Minimum of 7 years' working experience.
• Experience with CAT or KOMATSU machinery will be an added advantage.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• KCSE Mean Grade of C or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
