Farm Africa, an international non-governmental organization (INGO), is seeking to hire a Programme Funding Manager to support country office teams in developing high-quality programs and securing restricted funds to deliver them. This is a new role within the programmes department, and the successful candidate will work closely with cross-organisational teams in the Eastern Africa region to deliver complex and high-value institutional funding proposals from identification through to submission.
The Programme Funding Manager will be responsible for leading proposal development and ensuring that all proposals meet donor requirements and priorities. They will also work closely with country offices to facilitate high-quality project design processes, both remotely and in person, in line with the Farm Africa proposal development process and technical minimum standards. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for scanning the funding market for new restricted funding opportunities that are relevant to Farm Africa’s strategy and thematic pillars, identifying and proactively generating new opportunities for funding from institutional donors, and maintaining information about donor priorities.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in a programme funding role, with experience of developing proposals for Sida, Norad, the EU, USAID, or large foundations. They should have a proven track record of leading successful £1m+ funding proposals with institutional donors and significant experience working with diverse virtual teams. The Programme Funding Manager should also have experience of developing proposals for development programs on the themes of agriculture, livelihoods, and environment.
The successful candidate should be highly organized and proficient in remote project management, with the ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies. They should have exceptional writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and excellent communication and teamwork skills. They should also have high-quality research and analytical skills, be able to understand new technical concepts quickly, and have the ability to understand and work with complex budgets. Finally, the Programme Funding Manager should be proactive, have a problem-solving attitude, and a commitment to building positive, high-performing project teams, with a commitment to remote work principles whilst managing a healthy work/life balance.
