WM's Country Director in Kenya is seeking a Regional Manager to lead the Regional Office of Water Mission Kenya (WMK) in Makueni and Turkana. The Regional Manager will be responsible for managing the office and project operations, ensuring adherence to the mission, vision, values, and standards of the organization. The job entails frequent field visits, national, and occasional international travel. The Regional Manager will be required to reside in Makueni and Turkana.
The General Responsibilities of the Regional Manager include maintaining a strong Christian witness and modeling servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities they serve, and the public. Additionally, the Regional Manager must manage the office and projects according to approved scope, schedule, and budgets, provide timely and accurate reports of office and project status, and work in a team environment to ensure best-in-class quality of output and adherence to WM/K values and standards.
Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining positive relationships with various government offices to share best practices and professionalism with the County Government of, Ministry of Water & Sanitation and Irrigation (MOWSI), Ministry of Health (MOH), and other offices within the organization's vision and values. The Regional Manager will also be responsible for managing multiple simultaneous projects in different locations, maintaining good communications with WMK staff and partner organizations, ensuring that each portion of the work is executed according to an agreed-upon scope of work, and providing training to WMK staff and those of other organizations regarding maintenance, operation, organization procedures, and sustainability of implemented solutions.
The Regional Manager must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Community Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Development, etc.) with WASH experience preferred. A Master's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Community Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, etc.) is preferred. Seven years of progressive project and people management experience and two years working in development NGOs at the managerial level are required. The Regional Manager must also have excellent written and verbal cross-cultural communication skills, proficiency in spoken and written English, and the ability and willingness to travel in-country for up to four weeks per year.
The Regional Manager must also abide by the policies and requirements of the WMK Code of Conduct and Staff Policy Manual. The successful candidate must have authorization to work in Kenya and be aligned with WM's Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity. The Regional Manager must demonstrate the ability to build consensus, solve problems, and work collaboratively and effectively with other leaders, volunteers, and employees at all levels. The Regional Manager must also have the ability to grow leaders and establish a culture in alignment with WM's values.
