PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Stop Malaria Coordinator will be responsible for managing Malaria interventions in Rarieda Sub-County, Siaya County. This role reports to the Programs Manager and directly oversees the Community Malaria Liaison Officer. The position requires close collaboration with the M&E Coordinator, Data Officer, Finance and Procurement teams. Additionally, it involves establishing key relationships with the Sub-County health teams, County Public Health Officer, and other stakeholders involved in malaria control in Siaya County.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES R1. Strategic Leadership
T.1 Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Rafiki project team regarding Malaria interventions. T.2 Develop strategies to enhance community-level education and behavior change related to malaria. T.3 Collaborate with the Sub-County Public Health Officer to increase the adoption of malaria prevention, vaccination-RTS, diagnosis, and treatment, particularly among infants under 2 years old.
R2. Advocacy Role
T.1 Advocate for a sustainable supply of malaria diagnostic, prevention, and treatment commodities. T.2 Foster effective communication and coordination with various government bodies, local stakeholders, and private sector entities involved in malaria control within the sub-county.
R3. Project Implementation and Coordination
T.1 Lead the design and planning of preventive and curative malaria interventions in Rarieda in partnership with the Sub-County Public Health Officer. T.2 Collaborate closely with the Program Manager, Rafiki senior management, and the programs team to develop annual, monthly, and weekly project work plans. T.3 Coordinate and implement key malaria control measures, including LLIN distribution, intermittent preventive treatment for pregnant women, malaria diagnosis and treatment, and Insecticide Residual Spraying (IRS). Also, provide mentorship to health workers on managing uncomplicated malaria. T.4 Ensure timely documentation and sharing of lessons learned and success stories. T.5 Support the Community Liaison Officer, field team, and the M&E department in collecting and analyzing programmatic data. T.6 Participate in and support evaluations and reviews of Community Health Workers' activities through mentorship. T.7 Collaborate with the Programs Manager, M&E Coordinator, and external experts in conducting baseline, midline, and end line evaluations for the Stop Malaria project.
