This job posting is for a Branch Team Leader position at a company that empowers micro and small businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa to succeed. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and be based in either Ngong or Nairobi. The job requires the candidate to work from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays. The work hours may extend beyond these times as required.
The Branch Team Leader will be responsible for achieving monthly disbursements and collections targets for the unit, including all other set KPIs. The candidate will also be responsible for conducting due diligence before loan approvals, preventing and detecting fraud, and ensuring adherence to company SOPs and policies.
Additionally, the Branch Team Leader will be required to provide leadership and problem-solving support to teams in the branch in all unit functions, logistics, and performance issues, with a view to attaining set targets and creating an efficient work environment for the sector. The successful candidate will also be required to ensure that customer complaints are resolved in accordance with the company's complaints procedure and build excellent relationships with customers, customer-partners, and opinion leaders in the branch.
The Branch Team Leader must have a diploma in a business-related course, proven experience as a supervisor or relevant role as a team leader, preferably in fintech companies, experience with MS Office, and a good understanding of credit. The candidate must also possess basic knowledge of staff relations, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize. The successful candidate must have strong communication, presentation, and conflict management skills, a strong sense of ethics, and be a team player.
The Branch Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring that all units promote responsible lending and performing administrative duties such as ensuring that the office is clean, filing, procurement, and inventory management. The successful candidate will also be required to provide accurate and timely reporting of management information and market feedback to report on customer preferences, trends, and market opportunities in the sector.
The performance review period for this role is an initial 6-month probation.
