We are currently seeking a Legal Associate with 1-5 years of experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the negotiation, drafting and review of commercial contracts to ensure they are duly executed. They will also conduct due diligence on conveyancing transactions and prepare agreements for sale, completion documents (where necessary) and ensure proper registration of documents.
The Legal Associate will be expected to draft legal opinions and maintain the database, conduct legal research on various areas of law as may be assigned by the Partners, and oversee filing and maintenance of intellectual property applications and registrations. They will assist with due diligence and other intellectual property issues related to contracts, agreements and other transactional matters.
In addition, the Legal Associate will effect the legal formation of entities, including organizational documents and take further action as required by law. They will provide legal advice on commercial and corporate transactions and have the ability to prepare security documents and ensure they are properly executed and properly registered.
The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in initial client interviews, obtain all relevant information and documentation, and conduct legal research relating to pleading and motion preparation. They must have the ability to negotiate settlements for clients and draft settlement agreements, attend and conduct hearings at all levels of the court structure, and draft legal opinions and maintain a legal opinion database. The Legal Associate must also update clients on their matters on a timely basis.
Overall, the successful candidate must have a good understanding of commercial and corporate law and be able to apply it in practice. They must also possess excellent research, communication, and drafting skills.
