Description

Mutira Girls' High School is an extra-county girls' boarding school in Kirinyaga Central Sub-County, near Kerugoya in Kirinyaga County. Sponsored by the Anglican Church of Kenya, the school started in 1971 on a Harambee basis, on 14 acres of land donated by the local community. It began as a single-stream school and is now registered as an eight-stream school.

The school's motto is "Discipline Begets Knowledge", and its vision is to be a leading institution in moulding an all-round girl. Teaching is organised into Mathematics and Science, Languages, Humanities and Technical departments, alongside co-curricular activities and boarding.

Facilities include an administration block, 35 classrooms, 17 dormitories, five laboratories, a computer room and a home science room. The school runs a 62-seater bus and a 14-seater van, and has its own borehole for water. It is staffed by teachers from the Teachers Service Commission and the Board of Management.
