Description
Moi Kapsowar Girls High School is a public national girls' school in Kapsowar, Elgeyo-Marakwet County. Sponsored by the Africa Inland Church (AIC), it is built on strong Christian principles. The idea of a girls' school in Kapsowar goes back to the 1930s, when missionaries came to the area and also set up Kapsowar Mission Hospital.
The school's motto is "Strive to excel", and its vision is to be a centre of academic excellence. Enrolment has grown to about 1,580 girls from all over the country. In the 2023 KCSE, 216 of its 291 candidates qualified for direct university entry.
Learning is organised into Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, Humanities and Technical and Creative Arts departments, with three science laboratories. Outside class, girls choose from more than 20 clubs and four societies, and boarding, chaplaincy and guidance and counselling departments support their welfare. The school recently received a new 67-seater Scania bus.
Each year the school also hosts a Charity and Conservation Race. Write to info@moikapsowargirls.sc.ke. News, results and departments are on the Moi Kapsowar Girls High School website.
