Basecamp Maasai Mara – Safari Camp in Maasai Mara

Basecamp Maasai Mara is a tented safari camp on a wooded peninsula of the Talek River, which forms the boundary with the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is part of the Saruni Basecamp group and is managed and staffed largely by members of the neighbouring Maasai community.

The camp has 17 river-view tents under thatched roofs, including a honeymoon tent and two family tents. Each has an en-suite bathroom with a solar-heated shower, free Wi-Fi and a private deck facing the reserve. Guests share a bar, lounge, dining area and fireplace, and meals use produce from the camp’s organic garden.

Activities include game drives, bush meals and sundowners, bird and forest walks, balloon safaris and visits to Talek town. The Enjoolata centre shares Maasai culture and conservation work, and the gift shop sells beadwork by local women.
