Description
Aberdare Country Club is a heritage country hotel on the slopes of Mweiga Hill in the Aberdare Highlands of Nyeri County, about two and a half hours' drive north-east of Nairobi. It is part of the Marasa Africa group, which also runs The Ark in the Aberdare National Park.
The property was once the homestead of an English couple who settled in Kenya, known as "The Steep". Almost half a century later it was renamed the Aberdare Country Club and opened to guests. It keeps the charm of a private home with the simple comforts of a country inn, set in gardens bursting with colour.
Guests can relax by the swimming pool, visit the health club and spa, and play a round of golf watched by warthogs. VIP suites such as the Honeysuckle Suite, the restaurant and the bar complete the picture.
Activities include horse riding, game walks on the club's own sanctuary and trips to Aberdare National Park. It is a calm place to recover from jetlag. Offers and bookings are on the Aberdare Country Club website.
