Description
Consolata Hospital Nkubu is a faith-based hospital at Nkubu Market in Meru County, run under the Catholic Diocese of Meru as part of its healing ministry. It is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week.
The hospital began in 1950 as a small facility with an emergency room, a maternity room and male and female wards, built to cope with serious medical and maternity cases. Doctors joined from 1951, including through the NGO CUAMM, and from 1955 the hospital was re-planned to meet emergency needs; more than 60 percent of today's structures were designed in that period.
Inpatient care covers medical, surgical, paediatric, maternity and private wards, with an operating theatre. Outpatient services include accident and emergency, dental care, maternal and child health, immunisation, specialist consultations, a comprehensive care clinic and counselling. Support departments include the laboratory, pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiology and chaplaincy, and a Doctor's Plaza wing hosts consultants.
The hospital also runs the Nkubu School of Nursing. Call 0708 153 912 or 0788 720 984. Departments and news are on the Consolata Hospital Nkubu website.
