Description
Cottar's 1920s Camp is a luxury tented safari camp run by Cottar's Safaris, a fifth-generation family business that describes itself as Africa's oldest established family-run safari company. The family set up the camp in 1998 as a tribute to the style of early safaris, with canvas tents, antique furniture and lantern-lit verandas.
The camp lies in the Olderkesi Conservancy, a private 7,608-acre wilderness on the edge of the Maasai Mara that borders the Serengeti and Loliondo. Because it is a private-use conservancy, guests enjoy game viewing without crowded sightings.
Cottar's offers more than twenty activities, including game drives, bush walks, night drives, a Maasai Warrior School, guided foraging, conservation talks and helicopter flights, plus programmes for children. Land is leased directly from Maasai families, and the company supports community and conservation projects.
The neighbouring Cottar's Bush Villa offers exclusive-use stays. Rates, travel planning and bookings are on the Cottar's Safaris website.
