Description

Kabete National Polytechnic is a public technical and vocational education and training institution off Gacharage Road on Waiyaki Way, Nairobi. Its history goes back to 1924, when the colonial government set it up as the Native Industry Training Depot. During the Second World War it served as a recruitment barracks, and afterwards it became a school offering three-year trade courses.

After independence it became Kabete Technical High School, a national technical secondary school, before growing into today's ISO-certified national polytechnic. Kabete offers more than 58 programmes across 12 departments, from artisan to diploma level, with competency-based training on real machines and materials in fully equipped workshops and laboratories. It has over 3,000 students and more than 35 industry partners, and it became the first TVET institution in Kenya to export engineering spare parts after winning the Africa Tech Challenge.

The postal address is P.O. Box 29010-00625, Nairobi. Email info@kabetepoly.ac.ke or admissions@kabetepoly.ac.ke; offices open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Programmes and intakes are on the Kabete National Polytechnic website.
