Description
Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) is a public university in the Kaimosi Complex of Vihiga County, western Kenya, about 500 metres off the Chavakali–Kapsabet Road. It started in 2014 as Kaimosi Friends University College, a constituent college of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, taking over facilities once used by the Kaimosi Teachers Training College. It received its own university charter on 2 August 2022.
The university draws on the Quaker heritage of Friends Church East Africa, which opened the first school at Kaimosi in 1902, and it stresses service, integrity and education for all. KAFU has five schools offering more than 38 programmes, from certificates and diplomas to degrees, master's and PhD level, and it is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Besides the main Kaimosi campus, KAFU runs the Vokoli Campus in Vihiga and the Kobujoi Campus in Aldai, Nandi County, opened in September 2025 with a focus on STEM, teacher education and agriculture. Programmes and admissions are on the Kaimosi Friends University website.
