Kenya Seed Company

Kenya Seed Company is one of the country's best-known seed producers, with its head office at Mbegu Plaza on Wamalwa Street in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County. Incorporated as a state corporation to meet the seed needs of Kenyan agriculture, it has supplied certified seed to farmers for decades, with maize among its main lines.

The company's range covers maize, wheat, sunflower, sorghum, finger millet, rice, legumes such as beans and cowpeas, pasture and fodder seed, and horticultural and vegetable seed. It works with contract seed growers, carries out research and variety development, and gives farmers extension support, planting guides and training. Through subsidiaries such as Simlaw Seeds, it also operates in Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.
