Description

Ker & Downey Safaris is a Kenyan safari outfitter based in Karen, Nairobi, with roots going back to 1946. It was founded by hunters Donald Ker and Syd Downey, whose first job was running a Maasai Mara camp for the Hollywood film The Macomber Affair, and it went on to outfit many films shot in Africa.

After hunting was banned in Kenya in 1977, the company turned fully to photographic safaris, and it is best known today for private, tailor-made mobile tented safaris. Each trip is built around one of its experienced professional guides, many of whom grew up in rural Africa and learned bushcraft from earlier generations of guides. It also arranges stays at luxury camps and lodges across East and Southern Africa, plus film outfitting and conservation-minded trips.

The Nairobi office is open Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, Kenya time. Guides, destinations and trip enquiries are on the Ker & Downey Safaris website.
