Description
Kitich Camp is a remote forest camp in the Mathews Range in Samburu County, northern Kenya. It sits in an area of about 900 square kilometres of forest and 150 kilometres of mountains, with crystal-clear rivers, pristine wilderness and rare biodiversity, and guests often describe it as one of the remotest corners of the country.
The camp is a base for exploring the surrounding mountains and valleys on foot. Multi-day hikes and trails lead through the range, and mobile camping trips are guided by Samburu warriors who know the land as their home and heritage.
Kitich is also known for fly-fishing. The river pools hold plenty of fish, with larger specimens in the deep, cool pools in the dry season and moving into the shallows when the streams swell.
The camp suits travellers looking for walking, forest and cultural experiences rather than a conventional game-drive safari. Activities, rates and bookings are on the Kitich Camp website.
