Description
Loreto Convent Msongari is a Catholic all-girls school in Nairobi's Lavington area, founded by the Sisters of Loreto in 1921. The pioneers Mother Francis Borgia, who started Loreto in Kenya, and Mother Raphael Gordon built up Msongari, and the building in which it first functioned as a school still stands today among the oldest stone buildings in the area. A tennis court and concert hall followed in 1929 and a second storey in 1936.
The school offers day and optional boarding, with kindergarten, primary and secondary sections and both the 8-4-4 and IGCSE curricula. It has more than 2,200 enrolled students. Guided by Catholic principles and the Loreto ethos, it aims to mould each student holistically, and its core values are freedom, justice, sincerity, verity and felicity. Its motto is "All for the greater glory of God".
