Description

M-KOPA is a fintech company founded in Kenya in 2010 on the idea that combining digital micropayments with mobile connectivity could give people affordable access to life-enhancing products. Its Kenya headquarters are at 21 Riverside Paddocks in Nairobi, and M-KOPA Loans Kenya Limited is regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya.

Customers start by paying a small deposit to take home a smartphone, then pay in easy daily, weekly or monthly instalments until they own it. These repayments build a credit history that unlocks further services, including digital loans, hospital cover, device protection and affordable data bundles, all on similar instalment plans.

M-KOPA says it is trusted by more than 10 million customers across five markets in Africa. It also works with a large network of sales agents, many of whom build their own incomes through the business.

Phone deals, services and agent information are on the M-KOPA website.
