Maseno University

Maseno University is a public university whose main campus sits right on the Equator along the Kisumu–Busia highway, about 25 km from Kisumu City. Its name comes from an indigenous tree, and the area has been a centre of learning since the early 1900s. Maseno began as a university college in 1990 and became a full university in 2001.

The university has 14 schools covering agriculture and environmental sciences, arts and social sciences, business and economics, computing and informatics, education, mathematics and actuarial science, physical and biological sciences, public health, planning and architecture, and newer schools of medicine, nursing, pharmacy and law. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the main campus and the Kisumu Campus, plus online study through its eCampus.
