Description
Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) is a chartered public university on Magadi Road in Karen, about 25 km south-west of Nairobi city centre and right next to Nairobi National Park. The campus covers roughly 76 hectares in Karen ward, Lang'ata.
MMU has deep roots in communications training. It began in 1948 as the Central Training School for East African telecommunications, later became the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation Training School and, in 1992, the Kenya College of Communications Technology. In 2008 it became Multimedia University College of Kenya, a constituent college of JKUAT, and on 1 March 2013 it was chartered as a full university.
Its six faculties cover business and economics, computing and information technology, media and communication, engineering and technology, science and technology, and social sciences and technology. MMU also runs TVET programmes, the National Institute for Optics and Lasers, e-learning and postgraduate studies, with over 7,000 students. Courses and admissions are on the Multimedia University of Kenya website.
