Sisari Women Initiative Group (SWIG) is a young women-led non-profit organization that has long been at the forefront of advocating for the rights and empowerment of girls in Kakamega. On this Girl Child Day, they are calling for greater attention, investment, and action to support the leadership of girls, increase resources for and investments in young girls, improve access to and uptake of inclusive young girl-centered services, and support the education of girls. By prioritizing the needs and perspectives of girls, SWIG is helping to build a more just and equitable society, where every young woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential. Their work is a testament to the power of collective action and the importance of investing in the next generation of leaders. On this Girl Child Day, let us all join SWIG in their call to support and empower girls in our communities and around the world.
