Description

The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) is a public university based in the Tudor area of Mombasa island. It traces its roots to the Mombasa Institute of Muslim Education founded in the 1940s, later became Mombasa Polytechnic, and was awarded a full university charter in 2013. Its motto describes it as a premier institution of higher learning at sea level.

TUM focuses on technical and applied fields. Its faculties and schools cover engineering and technology, applied and health sciences, business and economics, humanities and social sciences, and marine and maritime studies, offering certificates, diplomas, bachelor's and postgraduate degrees. Practical workshops and laboratories support hands-on training, and the university works closely with industry and the port economy of the coast.

Admission is through KUCCPS for government-sponsored students and directly for self-sponsored programmes. Courses, intakes and contacts are listed on the Technical University of Mombasa website.
