Description

Galdessa Camp is a riverside safari camp on the banks of the Galana River in Tsavo East, Kenya's largest national park. It is run by Sheldrick Lodges, the not-for-profit lodge arm of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and sits in a quiet corner of the park where elephants wander the riverbank and hippos wallow below.

The camp is let on an exclusive-use basis for up to ten guests in five private tented rooms overlooking the river, each with its own bathroom and indoor shower. It is fully staffed with chefs and has an open-plan living and dining area, an infinity pool and an on-site gym. Days revolve around game drives and sundowners. A smaller sister camp, Galdessa Little, faces the Yatta Plateau.

Guests get special access to the Trust's Voi Reintegration Unit, founded in 1954 by David Sheldrick, to watch orphaned elephants at their midday mud bath.

Enquiries go to Sheldrick Lodges on 0111 044 200. Rates and bookings are on the Galdessa page on the Sheldrick Lodges website.
