The Cabanas Lamu – Boutique Beach Hotel in Lamu

The Cabanas Lamu is a small, off-grid boutique beach hotel on Kizingoni Beach on Lamu Island. There are only seven hand-built cabanas, each private and breezy, tucked among palms with the sea just beyond the door.

Inside, the rooms are full of island character: carved Lamu doors, white linen, netted beds, hand-plastered walls and natural textures. The style is barefoot luxury rather than polish, and the hotel has been featured in titles such as Condé Nast Traveller and The Independent.

Stays are full board. The kitchen is proudly not fine dining; meals are fresh, coastal and generous, with seafood off the boats, local produce, afternoon tea and homemade cookies. Days can include sunset dhow sails, wakeboarding and other watersports, wellness sessions and evening swims in phosphorescence, or simply long walks on an empty beach.
