Description

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) is a public university in Kakamega town, the headquarters of Kakamega County in western Kenya. Its roots go back to 1972, when the Western College of Arts and Applied Sciences was founded through community harambee efforts championed by the politician Masinde Muliro. The college became a constituent college of Moi University in 2002 and was raised to a full university in 2007.

Today MMUST concentrates on science, technology and innovation, offering certificate, diploma, undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes in fields such as engineering, health sciences, education, business and the social sciences. It also runs a TVET institute, open, distance and e-learning, short courses, a university library, a science park with an innovation and incubation centre, and the campus radio station MMUST FM.

Students can join sports teams, clubs and community outreach projects across the region. For admissions, fee structures and programme details, visit the MMUST website or contact the university office.
