The Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa

The Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa is a private, not-for-profit hospital on Vanga Road, off Likoni Road, and part of the Aga Khan Health Services network. It began as a small dispensary in 1944 and has grown into one of the main referral hospitals on the Kenyan coast, offering primary, secondary and some tertiary care.

The 82-bed main hospital runs a 24-hour Accident & Emergency department that handles trauma, medical and obstetric emergencies for adults and children, backed by an ICU, maternity wing with private rooms, general and private wards, radiology, dental care and specialist clinics such as cardiology. Its main laboratory holds SANAS accreditation, and the hospital is certified at SafeCare Level 5, with ISO 9001 and HACCP certification as well.
