Description

The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB) is a private Seventh-day Adventist university in Baraton, Nandi County, in the highlands south of Eldoret. Founded in 1978, it was the first private university in Kenya to receive a charter, awarded in 1991, and it draws students from across Africa and other continents.

UEAB offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through schools of nursing and health sciences, science and technology, business, education, humanities and social sciences, and agriculture. Its nursing and science programmes are well respected, and the university runs a farm, dairy and other enterprises that give students practical experience and work opportunities. Campus life reflects Adventist values, with a focus on health, service and spiritual growth.

The quiet rural campus has hostels, a library, sports fields and a church. The annual Baraton Road Race is a popular community event. Admissions and programme details are on the UEAB website.
